Ellis in Wonderland

Alice is all grown up and has lost her imagination when suddenly she finds herself back where her childhood fantasies began – Wonderland.
She meets up with an hilarious array of classic characters including The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat, The Talking Flower, The Dodo and of course The Queen of Hearts.
This theatrical show for primary school children is more than a magic show, it’s an engaging theatrical adventure where two talented performers play all the roles.
Colorful sets, video projections and an array of costumes means this show is only suitable for venues with a theatrically equipped stage. Lighting, curtains and a sound system are a must.
This show also comes complete with a stage technician (who sometimes ends up as part of the show as well!)
The show runs for 60 minutes and requires a “bump in” time of two to three hours.

SHOW REVIEW
“Utterly professional”
REVIEW BY CAITLIN CROWLEY – ArtsHub
Magical couple Tim Ellis and Sue-Anne Webster are back with a family friendly show as part of the Melbourne Magic Festival. Alice (Webster) is all grown-up now and when she has a chance encounter with a mysterious man on the train (Ellis) she is magically transported back to Wonderland where she hooks up with all the characters from her childhood visits.
Tim Ellis camps it up perfectly as the Queen of Hearts, The Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit, donning the costumes, delivering obtuse dialogue and bringing the well-loved characters to life. Webster is a wonderfully warm grown-up Alice. Together Ellis and Webster weave some expert magic into the show: Ellis makes an audience member’s watch disappear and plucks imaginary mushrooms from the air while Webster brings the Cheshire cat to life and ensures there’s enough blue tea for everyone.
Ellis in Wonderland has a definite pantomime-feel with good audience interaction. There’s not quite as many magical moments as previous shows, such as ‘Illusionarium’, but then again there’s more narrative and character-based comedy. Ellis and Webster are always utterly professional – the thought and care they put into their shows is evident in every aspect: from the video backdrop for the train journey to the fine magic throughout the show.
This is a fun-filled show and is perfect for kids aged 10 and under. My crew enjoyed it:
Jasper (6): I know why they couldn’t chop that man’s head off – it’s because you’ve got bones in your neck and they’re really hard to slice up.
Iris (6): It was good because it had lots of magic. I liked all of it.
